It was very busy on Wednesday morning at the Primary Department of Arnhem International school for the AIS4 Haiti Day. Children of year 7 together with their teacher, Mr. Lee Kirk, were the leading fund raisers throughout the school to raise money for the earthquake victims of Haiti. Proceeds of the sales will be donated to UNICEF.
Teachers have been busy during the week, in class, talking and informing students about the dramatic situation of their peers in Haiti. Parents have been very active in baking buiscuits, cakes and muffins to sale on this special day.

The "goodies" were sold by the slice or in small bags. There was also a counter with mango lemonade. The main attraction tough, was the jar of M&Ms, the number of which one could guess for a fee of 20 c. Children of each class were invited to wear blue for a donation of 1 Euro. But why Blue? It looks like it is the most common colour used by people.
Then, at snack time, each class

went to the main aula of the school. The children were very excited and found it difficult to decide which cake to buy from the incredible array on the table. Finally they all enjoyed their purchase together.
Likewise, the Secondary Department of AIS devoted time to Haiti. It was a students' initiative which raised over 400 Euro.
Well done AIS! A very interesting way to raise students' awareness and willingness to help others in need.
